Speaker Bio
Erin Bird graduated from the University of Calgary in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in Transportation. She is registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA, and started with The City of Calgary in November 2016.

Previously, Erin had the opportunity to work for a General Contractor as well as a couple of design consulting firms and has worked in both the US and Europe. Over her career at The City, Erin has worked as a project manager and structural resource in Transportation Infrastructure, as a Senior Planning Engineer in Water Resources, and most recently, she leads the Capital Project Strategies group, a part of the Corporate Engineering team, in Corporate Analytics and Innovation.

In her current role, she works closely with enabling business units and various capital project delivery business units. She also liaises with industry associations such as the Calgary Construction Association, Consulting Engineers of Alberta, Consulting Architects of Alberta, and Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association. In her spare time, she volunteers with Engineers Without Borders, Fair Trade Calgary and Circular Economy Club Calgary.
